the photo software you need

December 14, 2008 by admin

Hello,

My name is Ted Sikkink and I have been making pictures ever since I was 6 years old! Maybe this sounds impressive but the reason why I started so early is pretty simple: my father was a journalist and a die hard amateur photographer. He taught me the basics and gave me my first camera when I stopped biting my nails…

Starting with that first Minolta reflex, I subsequently purchased several other cameras, including brands like Canon and later Nikon, up until my favorite one, a Leica m5.

Besides following a fantastic TIME home-study photo course, which definitely allowed me to get to a higher level, I later joined a photography school in Brussels, which unfortunately turned out to be very technically oriented and bored me quite rapidly.

There’s no doubt that if I had gone to an art school type of institute, I would have become a professional photographer, but things turned out differently and I ended up working in the music industry (EMI, Warner) and so remained an amateur (albeit passionate) photographer.

Like most of you, I switched to digital photography, working with a very simple Sony which fits in my breast pocket and I carry with me most of the time.

Working with digital pictures and looking for the best possible digital photo editing software, I soon discovered ACDSee’s fantastic photo manager (and later photo editor), which I have continued to use ever since simply because it is extremely flexible and loaded with all sort of neat tools and options, allowing for maximum efficiency.

So if you’re looking for photo software that “provides everything you need to make the most of your digital memories” I wholeheartedly recommend ACDSee photo software.

Sincerely,

Ted Sikkink

I look for a picture editing program which can create digital photo or other picture to Christmas card. If the program has a lot of templates such as Greeting Cards, Christmas Cards will best. Anyone know a easy to use tool as the description?
Go to CropMom (http://www.cropmom.com), then upload your photo to the site via the My Photos page (you have to register, which is free, and be logged in to add photos).

Then click Get Started and choose to make a new layout. Choose one of the 5" by 7" canvas sizes because that’s perfect for a greeting card. Drag and drop your photo on the canvas. Then drag and drop any of CropMom’s thousands of digital scrapbook graphics onto your canvas.

One of the best "kits" on the site to use is the Home for the Holidays kit. In the lower left corner, use the drop-down menu for Kits to choose Home for the Holidays.

You can resize and rotate photos and graphics by clicking on them. You can add your own text in the color of your choice.

After you’ve finished your greeting card, click save.

Then go to the My Layouts page, and click to enlarge that layout. You can now download your layout in low-resolution for free. The low-resolution JPEG file you download is great for sharing on the Web or for e-mailing to friends and family.

Or, you can click the pink purchase button to purchase the high-resolution JPEG of your layout. This is what you’ll need so that your layout can be printed. The high-resolution layout costs under $2.

Now, you can either choose to print your greeting card at home. Or you can have it printed by Snapfish, Shutterfly or a similar online photofinisher.

It’s easy. It’s inexpensive. And you’ll end up with a greeting card with far better graphics than what you can get with a lot of picture-edting programs.
